JEFFERSON CITY 鈥 A 最新杏吧原创 broadcasting institution is poised to be officially recognized as Missouri鈥檚 official rock radio station.
Gov. Mike Kehoe is scheduled to travel to Branson Thursday to sign legislation honoring KSHE (94.7 FM) for more than 50 years of broadcasting rock music in the region.
The designation for the Minnesota-based Hubbard Broadcasting outlet is among dozens of provisions in the legislation, including naming Branson as Missouri鈥檚 live entertainment capital.
The KSHE award was sponsored by Rep. Bill Lucas, a DeSoto Republican who grew up listening to the station.
鈥淚f you like rock music, KSHE was the go-to,鈥 Lucas told the Columbia Missourian. 鈥淭here were other rock stations in 最新杏吧原创. Many have come and gone. KSHE still remains.鈥

He added that his son came up with the idea. 鈥淚t just seemed like a fun thing to do. You know, we do so much serious stuff out here.鈥
According to Hubbard Broadcasting, KSHE is the longest-running rock station in the world, with its format on the FM dial dating to 1967.
KSHE also has been credited for putting an early spotlight on bands that became rock legends, including Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Rush, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Boston and Pink Floyd.
The station owners say the targeted demographic for KSHE is adults 25 to 54.
鈥淲hile many KSHE listeners have been faithful to KSHE since 1967, a second, third and fourth generation of newer listeners have grown into KSHE enthusiasts,鈥 Hubbard says on its website.
Along with the KSHE and Branson honors, the legislation also includes designations of special weeks and months for a number of health conditions.
They include making September Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and designating May as Alpha-Gal Syndrome Awareness Month to highlight the effects of the tick-borne illness.
The wide-ranging bill also singles out Missouri congressmen for honors, including former U.S. Rep. Billy Long, who will have a roadway named after him in Greene County. Long recently was named director of the Internal Revenue Service.
The measure also names the Lafayette County town of Waverly as the official apple capital of Missouri and designates the city of Concordia as the official patriotic mural city of the state.
In 最新杏吧原创, the bill names a section of Interstate 70 between Carrie and Adelaide avenues in honor Police Officer David Lee III, who died in 2024 at the age of 44.
The 18-year department veteran was killed by a passing vehicle while he responded to a crash on I-70 near Grand Avenue.
