ST. LOUIS 鈥 Downtown鈥檚 historic Mark Twain Hotel is for sale after a proposed hotel redevelopment stalled.
The property, about five blocks north of Busch Stadium on Ninth Street, is being privately listed through commercial real estate firm CBRE.
Owner Anchor Point Hotel LLC had proposed turning the eight-story building into a Hilton Tapestry, a full-service hotel with a restaurant and meeting rooms. But the project encountered financing problems as interest rates remain high, according to Campo Architecture & Interior Design, which was attached as an architecture firm to the project.

The founder of the New Orleans-based company, John Campo, also was involved as a development partner on the project. His company said Campo remains committed to the city of 最新杏吧原创.
The Mark Twain was built in 1907 as the Maryland Hotel and is one of the few remaining historic hotels in the central business district, according to its nomination form for the National Register of Historic Places. It became a residential hotel sometime in the 1990s.

Campo鈥檚 other 最新杏吧原创 project, a redevelopment of the Chemical Building two blocks east, also stalled amid financing challenges.
"We had a pipe that burst on the second floor. ... We had to evacuate the building for safety. ...
