Defenseman Hunter Skinner hopes to bring energy, physicality to Blues when he gets a shot
Blues defenseman Hunter Skinner made enough of an impression during training camp to be the first defenseman recalled from the AHL this season.
The Blues recalled Skinner, 24, on Sunday morning as the corresponding move to loaning Logan Mailloux to AHL affiliate Springfield (Massachusetts). Skinner has one goal and one assist in 11 AHL games this season and had one assist in three NHL preseason games this fall.

The Blues got robbed of a point Saturday night. Regardless of what nonsensical ruling the NHL passed down that justified the officials blatantly ignoring goaltender interference, it was taken from them.

The long wait didn’t stress the Blues much at all.
Across the two minutes and 43 seconds that officials reviewed a late, third-period, game-tying goal for Seattle, the Blues bench wasn’t concerned. They were confident, certain that Chandler Stephenson’s goal with 1.9 seconds left in the third period would not count, that it would be disallowed due to goaltender interference.

What Blues' Jim Montgomery, Joel Hofer had to say after goalie interference non-call
The Blues lost 4-3 in overtime Saturday night to Seattle, but the main topic of conversation afterwards was the goalie interference that wasn't called on Seattle's tying goal late.
Here's what head coach Jim Montgomery, goalie Joel Hofer, Jordan Kyrou and Dylan Holloway had to say about that decision as well as the game as a whole.

Now it’s time to see what the response is.
Jordan Kyrou was back in the Blues lineup on Saturday night vs. Seattle, one game after he was a healthy scratch in a 3-0 win over Buffalo. Kyrou was back on the top line with Brayden Schenn and Robert Thomas in addition to skating on the second power play unit.

How did we get here? A timeline of Jordan Kyrou's public reprimands with the Blues
Jim Montgomery knows his one lever: limiting ice time.
It’s his trump card, a motivational device that is more effective than speeches, more attention-grabbing than video sessions. It’s how coaches have gotten messages across to their players for years, and it could take different forms.

Joel Hofer made 27 saves in his first shutout of the season, while Mathieu Joseph (shorthanded), Nick Bjugstad and Justin Faulk (empty-net) each scored for the Blues.

Worthy: Blues better to provide their own shake-up before the front office does
The comment wasn’t as alarming in the moment as it looms now more than a week later, but the Blues have done little to make head coach Jim Montgomery’s words ring hollow.
During his postgame remarks following a three-goal loss at home to the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 28 at Enterprise Center, Montgomery uttered the phrase, “Something ugly is rearing its head every game, and we’ve just got to get back to the drawing board and work together and be excited about the challenge and opportunity of how long a season is.â€
