Sen. Eric Schmitt went golfing with President Donald Trump recently and posted on social media afterward that Trump "crushed it" on the golf course.
While Schmitt was cozying up to the president, he was expressing his enthusiasm for Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" of tax cuts and social safety-net cuts. Boiled down to its basic element, this bill is nothing more than a huge tax cut for the wealthiest Americans. Many benefits for the poor are going to be cut or made more difficult to access.
Republicans such as Schmitt and Trump's other golf buddies are trying to convince Americans that Medicaid and other entitlements are rife with fraud, but we don't buy it. Under this bill, it won't be just a golf game that Trump "crushed"; it will be the most vulnerable Americans.
